When I was writing Piazza Navona, I was determined to end the story there. However, I went back to Rome while the novel was in edit, and realized, Elise needed more than just an escape to Italy to work through her crumbling life. I had to write about how she picks herself back up again or at least attempt to.
I came back to San Francisco, and while walking around Nob Hill one day playing tourist like I do on occasion in my city, I decided there was no way Elise’s story could end in Piazza Navona. Especially after I crossed paths with this amazing human being, and felt his character needed to be part of Elise’s story.
